The last few day’s (Amritsar trip pt 3/3)

After the trip from the day before we were pretty tired so we had a pretty late start to the day , at around 8:00 am . We again had a heavy breakfast and left for the markets to pick up the last few things and dresses that my mom wanted to get , that day we had planned a trip to wagha border which is the border between India and Pakistan via Amritsar to Lahore . There is a bus service that goes through here a few hours before the ceremony occurs . While in the markets we shopped a bit more and found this one shop located just outside the gates of the market and it had one of the best saleswoman I have ever seen , the way she displayed and advertised products was like none other even my mom who usually doesn’t fall for their tricks got enticed to buy some stuff . The border retreat ceremony is conducted at 5:15 PM so we had to leave for the city on pedals a few hours in advance , we had our lunch at around 1 and left for the tour . We first stopped at pull Moran which is a few kilometers away from the ceremony area but incredibly close to the Indo – Pak border , our guide explained to use what it was built for and who built it . We took some pictures and then went to the border ceremony area , where we were dropped off at the security checking area where some BSF personal pat us down with metal detectors and by hand to check if we haven’t brought anything illegal . We were seated and ready around and hour in advance which is the only reason why we got decent seats right in the center , before the ceremony starts some foreigners and VIPs are allowed to dance to patriotic Bollywood and Hindi songs . Around 30 mins in advance to the ceremony 2 armed gaurds in full battle gear arrive at the gate and other military personnel make sure everyone keeps quiet and settle down . At 5:15 PM in the second a horn sounds and 2 dogs start the ceremony by goi up to the gates , barking and then walking to the orchestrator and saluteing them . India always first sends women soldiers to represent us while Pakistan does so very rarely . After this the rest of the show continues while patriotic songs play in the background and an absolutely MASSIVE Indian flag is passed around , the next major event occurs at the end of the ceremony when both sides compete to see who can take down their flag the fastest . This competition is completely honor based and the side that comes second keeps their head down but if nobody wins then they continue as normal . Once the flag is taken down and kept safely the ceremony comes to an end . That same night we went to a couple more temples which was part of the tour . After the tour had ended we went to have dinner at a very hyped up place known as kesar da dhaba which to be honest wasn’t as good as people make it out to be . Anyway that was the end of our trip and the next day we left for home .

This was my experience in a trip to the golden city Amritsar hope you enjoyed
